clfinallogo.jpgThis is your place to keep up with the day's events as they unfold in the build up to the biggest club game, the Champions League final, which sees the two best clubs in the world face each other; that is Barcelona vs Manchester United.  A couple of members will keep this updated throughout the day so this is the place to find out about injury news/scares, how the players are feeling, the goings-ons in Rome and even team news nearer kick off time.  All times are relevant to BST (British Summer Time).

19:55 - GOAL - Carrick gives possession away and Iniesta feeds it into Eto'o who beats Van Der Sar at his near post to make it 1-0 Barca against the run of play

19:43 - Man Utd fans hold up their cards to make up a collage saying "For Sit Matt" with his would have been his 100th birthday today..

19:40 - The teams are in the tunnel in similar matching jackets with a golden V similarstyle to what you may have seen on some of the proposed images of the new kit.

The trophy is just being carried out by a rather bizarely dressed woman in a gold dress with what looks like wings almost..

19:34 - "im just hoping for an epic game, if we lose in style then so be it, if we win in style then even better, could take losing to barca compared to an eng team
but i reckon unfortantly it wont live up to the hype and will be 1-0 United" - 20 Legend Claire

19:32 - Ferguson has just been interviewed and seems in buyoant mood though he was not going to give any of his team talk away except to say he hopes it's enough!

19:30 - So there's no curveball that Jordi Cruyff predicted with the line ups from both sides as many had predicted but will that come in the tactics?

What about Gary Neville can he comeback from this? No place for him even on the bench..

19:27 -United were out first to a deafening reception from the fans and the P.A. system with Glory Glory Man United blasting out.

Manchester United:

Man United players are already at the stadium and have been seen parading and acknowledging fans thathave already taken their seats. Gary Neville is all suited up, along with Wes Brown, Darren Fletcher and Federico Macheda.. I'm guessing neither of them will be featuring in the game tonight..

Spain King Juan Carlos has reached Rome ahead of the final.

Fans make their way to the stadium

Fans are now starting to make their way to their stadium. There's heavy security checks at the gates. Some fans have evn begin taking their seats. Less than 2 hours before kick-off!

12pm - 2pm

Weather Update

Really nice weather in Rome, although quite hot. News coming in that it might cool down in the evening.

Fans' thought for Fletcher

Darren Fletcher will miss out on the final following his red card, but the fans have not forgotten his contribution. Indeed, they have paid a tribute to the Scotsman. A group of United fans have been spotted wearing Fletch masks.

Gary Lineker's thoughts

"I would go for United purely for the fact they are stronger defensively. United will probably play tighter than Barcelona and try and hit them on the break and that's where I think they may overcome them. But Lionel Messi is just incredible and he could go on to become the greatest player ever."

Henrik Larsson's thoughts

"It's hard to compare Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson. What they have in common is a passion for the game. They love it very much and that's why Sir Alex is still at United. Guardiola is still learning his trade but he has some marvellous players to work with. Sir Alex is right up the with the greats. I learnt so much in the 10 weeks I was there. His passion for the game is fantastic."

Who will score first?

Check out our poll on the right and be sure to add your comment below or join in the discussion onanderson.jpg the forum ..

A reminder also that Anderson has said if he scores he will strip off and run around the stadium naked..hmm

Can the Brazilian break his duct against Barcelona?

Party atmosphere

There are reports of the two sets of fans having no problems getting along with both mingling together on the streets singing and dancing. If you are near Rome it would be great to hear from you and any photos you have...

10am - 12pm

Fan Stabbed in Rome

A United fan suffered stab wounds last night in Rome but was released from hospital recently.  A hospital spokesperson has said the injuries suffered were "not serious".

 8am - 10am

Fergie aims high

Sir Alex Ferguson has set a target of matching the number of times Real Madrid have been European Champions.  The Spanish club are currently 6 European titles ahead but that figure could be reduced tonight which would be the perfect start to achieving this target. "It may not be in my time, but it's something to aim for," said Ferguson of Real's record. "This is a young team with the right kind of experience that could win it more in future years."

Ronaldo receiving treatment.Injury Scare

Pictures of Ronaldo from last night's training session have emerged with the Portuguese star seemingly suffering from a knock to his right ankle which was treated and then heavily heavily strapped.  Will this knock stop him from featuring tonight?
