Brown saves blushes
Wes Brown scored the only goal ass Crawley Town put up an excellent fight against Man Utd. United rung the changes as expected but several players failed to take the opportunity they were given and Sir Alex Ferguson even admitted post-match that "a few players did not do themselves justice."

Despite an early strike from Nani, Man Utd succumbed to their first defeat of the season as two Wolves set pieces undid United. Fortunatley title hopes were not badly damaged with Chelsea losing and Arsenal managing only a draw. Next up for the red devils though is "noisy neighbours" Man City who are currently 5 points behind United having played a game more.

The last time Wayne Rooney had scored from a bicycle kick was at school on Merseyside, before fame invaded his world and turned him from a teenage prodigy into a careworn star who has recently looked a bit like a burnt-out case. Then, in a Manchester derby, he rose again to revive those far-off days.

At the end of a transfer window that saw three of their rivals spend a total of £135million on strikers, Manchester United were finally reintroduced to one of their own last night as they consolidated their position at the top of the Barclays Premier League.
